The PDO “Pouilly-Fuissé” is located in Saône et Loire, in the extreme south of the Burgundy-French-County region. It is one of the five “communal” appellations of the Mâconnais. The PDO “Pouilly-Fuissé” concerns only white wines, produced within a delimited production area of about 800 hectares spread over 4 communes.

For 10 years, the Organisme de défense et de gestion (ODG) of the PDO “Pouilly-Fuissé” and the INAO have worked on the recognition of these first growths of the appellation by studying in particular the notoriety, the uses and the natural characteristics of the parcels. This work has made it possible to propose 22 “premier cru” climats, representing 194 hectares (i.e. 24% of the “Pouilly-Fuissé” PDO area), spread over the four communes of the appellation: Chaintré, Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson.

The year 2020 plays with the nerves of the planet. It also titillates those of the Burgundian winemakers! With a historically early harvest, we had to get organized so that the wineries were ready to receive the first grapes! Unlike the other communal AOPs of Burgundy, the communal appellations of the Mâconnais did not benefit until now from “premier cru” climats. The ODG of the PDO “Pouilly-Fuissé” was the first to seek recognition of the specificities of certain localities, called “climats” in Burgundian terminology. Il a déposé une demande de reconnaissance en « premiers crus » en 2010. The approval order of our new specifications was published on Friday, November 21, 2020 in the Official Journal of the French Republic.

This recognition is a guarantee for the future development of our region and our Domain.
